What is PCC?

A Police Clearance Certificate (PCC) is an official document issued by the Indian police or Passport Seva Kendra that states you don’t have any criminal record. It’s often required for visa applications, work permits, or residency applications in foreign countries.

How to Apply for PCC Online in India

Here’s how you can apply for PCC from the comfort of your home:

1. Visit the Passport Seva Website

In order to apply to PCC India, you need to go to the Passport Seva official website.

If you don’t have an account, click on “Register Now” and create one by providing your basic details.

Log in with your credentials once registered.

2. Choose the Service

After logging in, go to the “Apply for Police Clearance Certificate” option under the “Services” section.

3. Fill Out the Application Form

Fill in all the required details, including your personal information, passport details, and the purpose for PCC (e.g., employment, migration, etc.).

Double-check everything to ensure there are no errors.

4. Pay the Fees

The PCC application fee is 500 Indian Rupees. You can pay online using a credit card, debit card, or internet banking.

5. Book an Appointment

Once you’ve paid the fee, you’ll be directed to schedule an appointment at your nearest Passport Seva Kendra (PSK) or Regional Passport Office (RPO).

Select a date and time slot that works for you.

6. Visit the PSK or RPO

On the day of your appointment, visit the PSK/RPO with the required documents:

  • Your original passport and a self-attested photocopy.
  • Proof of address (if it’s different from the address on your passport).
  • Any other relevant documents based on the purpose of PCC.

Your biometrics (fingerprints and photos) will be taken at the center.

7. Wait for Processing

After your appointment, the police verification process will be initiated. This usually involves a visit from a local police officer to verify your address and details.

If everything checks out, your PCC will be issued.

How to Get PCC Immediately in India

If you’re in a hurry and need to apply PCC to India immediately, here are a few tips:

  • Ensure all your documents are complete and accurate to avoid delays.
  • Opt for the Tatkal (urgent) appointment option when booking your slot.
  • Visit the PSK/RPO early on your appointment day to speed up the process.
  • If police verification is required, you can politely request the local police station to expedite the verification.

How Much Does PCC Cost in India?

The fee for applying for a PCC in India is 500 INDIAN Rupees. This is a standard fee and is non-refundable. Additional charges might apply if you’re using any premium services.

How Long Does PCC Take in India?

The time it takes to get a PCC depends on the verification process:

  • Without Police Verification: If police verification isn’t required (e.g., if you’ve recently had a police check for a new passport), you can get your PCC within a few days.
  • With Police Verification: If verification is needed, it can take anywhere from 7 to 15 days, depending on your local police station’s efficiency.

Quick Tips to Make the Process Smooth

  • Keep Originals Handy: Always carry the original versions of your documents when visiting the PSK/RPO.
  • Be On Time: Arrive at the center 15-30 minutes before your scheduled appointment.
  • Track Your Application: Use the Passport Seva website to track the status of your PCC application.

Applying for a PCC online in India is not as daunting as it may seem. Just follow the steps above and make sure all your documents are in order, and you’ll have your PCC in no time.
