What is the IMM 1294 Form?

The IMM 1294 form, officially known as “Application for Study Permit Made Outside of Canada,” is used by international students to apply for a study permit. This form will include all the essential information about your identity, study plans, and financial status to determine your eligibility.

You need this form if you’re applying for a study permit from outside Canada, whether for a college, university, or any other educational institution in Canada.


How to Open the IMM 1294 Form?

You can download a PDF version of IMM 1294 from the official website of IRCC. However, many users encounter issues opening the form. Here’s how to do it:

  1. Download Adobe Acrobat Reader: Make sure that you have the latest version of Adobe Acrobat Reader installed on your device.
  2. Download the Form: Visit the official IRCC website. Right-click on the link to the IMM 1294 form and select “Save link as” to download it to your computer.
  3. Open the Form: Locate the downloaded file on your computer. Right-click the file, select “Open with,” and choose Adobe Acrobat Reader. If it doesn’t open, check if your browser’s PDF viewer is disabled.

How to Fill IMM 1294 Form?

Filling out the IMM 1294 form can seem daunting, but it’s straightforward if you follow these steps:

1. Personal Information:

Provide your full name, gender, date of birth, and place of birth. Ensure that your Name is written the same as your other official documents.

You may also need to mention your marital status and citizenship.

2. Contact Information:

Enter your current residential address. Contact information should be accessible.

Include your phone number and email address.

3. Details About Your Passport:

Provide your passport number, the country that issued it, and its expiry date.

4. Study Plan:

Mention the name and address of your educational institution, it may ask for the DLI number as well, you can find it here.

Provide the program’s name, duration, and start and end dates.

5. Financial Support:

Indicate how you will support yourself financially during your studies (e.g., personal savings, scholarship, family support). You don’t need to submit any GIC or Investment as of new rules, you just need to show enough financial assets to prove you can support yourself financially in Canada.

6. Background Information:

Answer questions about your previous travel history, any criminal convictions, or refusals of visas from other countries. You need to ensure that you answer all questions truthfully and match with any previous information provided to immigration.

7. Declarations and Signatures:

Sign and date the form electronically. You may need to print and sign it if required. You should print and sign physically and scan the documents.


How to Upload the IMM 1294 Form Online?

Once you’ve completed the form, the next step is to upload it to your online IRCC account:

  1. Create an IRCC Account: Go to the IRCC website and create an account if you don’t already have one.
  2. Log In: Log into your account using your credentials.
